Next term on 5th November 2024, as part of our unit studying colour theory, we will be meeting with artist Natasha Frootko, famous for the coloured houses of Gloucester, this is an exciting opportunity for our students to get involved in a documentary the artist is making. We will tour her works on High Street, Tredworth, followed by our very own version in our classroom.
Last week, Year 9 met with artist Tash Frootko who really inspired our pupils. After giving us a tour of her many works on the High Street, she welcomed us into her home where she surprised the girls with some of their designs that she had kept from last year from the Barton and Tredworth school competition wall 2023. One winner was one of our very own AASSG students, H. Veshmia, Y10.
The pupils were truly stunned and amazed, at how much their work inspired the artist and she thanked AASSG for their contributions.
She explained some of the ideas behind the works; encouraging communities working together, including the Muslim community which she is very fond of. She expressed how she had taken inspiration from Islamic art and multicultural diversity to make her works inclusive for all. The students connected well with this sentiment and they felt inspired to express their views through art. They felt uplifted by her view on propelling female artists and empowering their recognition and talent.
