Citizenship Day 2025: Giving Back to our Local Communities

Our KS3 students had a wonderful time exploring the beautiful Rococo Gardens. They thoroughly enjoyed learning about how to be responsible custodians of natural outdoor spaces, ensuring that all forms of wildlife are protected and respected. And understanding how important caring for the planet is within Islam.

The visit was both educational and inspiring, and many of our students commented on how much fun they had discovering the unique features of the Rococo period garden and woodland including the many follies and giant maze.

Students also had an opportunity to create some artwork inspired by the garden as part of a mindfulness activity and connecting to nature.

Members of the public visiting the gardens also took the time to commend the exemplary behaviour and manners of our students, which made us incredibly proud. MashaAllah.

A huge thank you to Lisa at Rococo Gardens for inviting us and for organising such a fun filled and inspirational day.

Meanwhile, our KS4 students had the fantastic opportunity to lead a range of activities for our neighbouring primary school, Widden Primary.

The young KS2 children thoroughly enjoyed the attention, care, and support from their KS4 buddies.

Every child took part in three exciting tasks: seed planting, a creative art station, and a sports station, all designed and expertly led by our KS4 students who were excellent role models.

Throughout the morning, our students were encouraging and supportive, with plenty of high-fives, cheers, and smiles shared all around.

The session concluded with a lively paper aeroplane challenge, which proved to be a great success and a fun finale to the day.

A huge thank-you goes to Ms Couto and Ms Thompson for allowing our AASSG students the opportunity to deliver our local citizenship programme at Widden Primary. The young primary children were a pleasure to work with, exceptionally well-behaved and clearly enjoyed every part of the session.
